Are quail chicks noisy?

I'm buying three little quail chicks sometime this week. I'm just wondering whether they're noisy or make any noise at all? Do they cheep like baby chickens do? I need to know this because if I'll be keeping them inside my bedroom my parents said they don't want to hear any of them.

Also... I have been told to feed them chick starter crumbles. What else do I need to know?

They do chirp a little bit but not as much as chickens. Once they start to grow up they are pretty quiet. My males only crowed when I had too many. Once I had two for each 6 females they quit crowing for the most part.

They need higher protein content than chicks. They should be fed a game bird crumble with at least 23% protein.

They may peep loudly on the first day or so as they will have been separated from their friends, but they should settle down quickly. And they will peep loudly if something is wrong (they are too cold etc). Remember to show they where the water and food is as they may not work it out on their own. Just tap the food and water with your fingers and they should come over to investigate what you are 'pecking' at.

Thanks guys. If they are over 1 week old will they be fine with 17-21 degrees Celsius temperature or is that too low? I live in Australia and it's getting hotter here so was wondering whether it's worth buying a heat lamp if they'll be indoors. I have kept baby chickens 2-3 weeks old in my room with the same temps and they flourished.

Quail are more sensitive than chicken chicks. Their tiny bodies will chill much faster. That would be too cold for them. At that age they should be around 30 degrees Celsius.

Okay thank you. Would a water bottle or heat pad be the same or no? We haven't bought a heat lamp yet but we're going to look in the pet shop if they have any.

I tried using the mama heating pad method with quail chicks once. They wouldn't stay under it so I had to switch to a heat lamp.
