Are quick oats okay?

Are quick oats okay for 4&5 day old chicks? Just for some play & keep them busy.

In moderate amounts as a treat or brooder scratch they are fine. I sprinkle them over the litter every other day to encourage the chicks to keep it turned up and fluffy and keeps them out of mischief. Just don't feed more than a little on any given day.

if you want to give them something to do... make up some suet cakes... with crunched up nuts and celery seed and millet and cranberry pieces... use the unseasoned drippings off of your meat... they will love it. They will have a great time "hunting" in the feed for the goodies.
