Are RIR usually broody?

I just went to the barn to do my usual egg hunting. I look in the tool box(favorite place to lay) and got the @#$% scared out of me. I have 1 RIR pullet that is laying, I didn't know that she was in there because it was dark in the barn, and she started screeching mouth open, hissing, growling. She won't let me have that egg. She is the same one that I had to break up her nest the other day. I didn't think that RIR were produced to go broody. She is a fierce little thing.

Some can be most are not. I mean, leghorns who are the most crazy birds out there can go broody on rare instances.


If she sits all day AND all night she's broody. If it's just during the day, she could be enjoying her work.
