I have a hen who laid like 20 or so eggs in a nest and she still isn't sitting. Are some hens simply not broody?

correct, the broodiness has been bred out of some breeds and lines to increase the egg production. A sitting hen stops producing eggs to tend to her clutch and pending chicks. So there is a lot a variability from almost never broody, to some times, to a lot broody.

It can be age, or just not her time right now.

If you know, what is the bred of your hen?

I have 13 hens and only 1 of these has ever gone broody. I wait until they have been sitting on a nest for 2-3 days and nights before I would give them some eggs. The will just keep laying until they become broody or they might never be broody.

Golden comet. I know they are good egg breeds , I wondered if they lacked broodiness.

This is a hybrid breed for egg production not being broody.

Thought so, I just wanted to double check. Thanks.

What Schellie69 said - Golden Comets are egg production hybrids and it would be VERY surprising if she ever went broody.

I had a hybrid go broody last year so it does happen, although yes, it is very rare.
