Are Surinam cherrys safe for chickens???

Okay as I have been free ranging my chickens in my backyard, I notices one of them found a surinam cherry (unripe) and pulled it from the bush and ran away from all the rest with it before it even registered in my little brain what she had. So are these safe for the chickens b/c apparently they tend to swallow the whole thing seeds and all???
