Jupiter Farms, Florida
Hello, we are new chicken owners with 4 two week old chicks. We are planning on expanding our flock and was just wondering if there were any local breeders in the Jupiter Farms, Florida area. We purchased our chicks from the fair, and I know the local feed store sells chicks at various times of the year. But we we interested in other breeds rather than the standard ones at the feed store. I'm trying to avoid going through the mail order places because of all the stories I've read about the shipping issues. Any leads would help. Thanks

hey neighbor that lives kinda far am right outside of lake placid about a hour away from belle glades, i live out in the STICKS! but never had a problem with ordering online i would really try it out i do have a few chick breeds myself but still kinda a far drive for you, I would look into ordering online

Thanks for the reply. After doing a little more research, I just placed an order with ideal poultry. I ordered 8 new chicks and the total price was very reasonable, and they'll be ready to ship next week. Now I know the craze about "chicken math"!!!!! Eventually, I would like to add more to my flock and would prefer to get them locally, and help support local business. With my other 4 chicks rapidly growing, it won't be ling before I have to build my coop. I've looked on Craigslist, but really haven't found anything I like. I'm not opposed to building one from scratch, but I'd rather try to find one already made. Any decent ones in your area? I wouldn't mind taking a small road trip.

Hello! I too live in Jupiter Farms, right off Mellen Lane and rescued a big Rhode Island Red Rooster, named Rollo. Working on a large coop and am aware of all the predator issues here. I would like to obtain some chickens. Did you find any local breeder here or nearby? Teenage and adult chickens are fine for me. They don't have to be chicks. Any pointers on breeds? Austral ores come recommended as heat tolerant. Any pointers as well as "do and don't"s on the coops? I'd be grateful for any pointers.
