I am hoping someone will be able to help. I would love if someone was available to video conference. This morning, I had two duck eggs in the incubator. One hatched already. The other one pipped at the wrong end and I’m worried he’s having troubles. The egg is still moving and shaking but, it doesn’t look anything like the other one when it hatched. Is there anyone that’s available to help and let me know if I should assist in the hatch or just leave it? Thank you in advance.

It externally pipped 33 hours ago. Here’s a couple pics of it’s current situation.

I would assist asap. Gently break off a few pieces of shell around the pip/crack then wet the membrane with water on a q-tip. If you see live, red, veins wait a few hours, but if the membrane is dry and clear assist. Slowly peel back the membrane. If you see blood, STOP and apply cornstarch. wait another 2 hours or so. A little blood is normal but gushing, bright red blood means it's not ready.

So the thing people often forget is when a Duckling pips on the wrong side they can take more than 72 hours to get out of the shell,(Not uncommon) this is because they didn't internally pip for 24 hours so you're adding on all that time, make sense? If the duckling is moving around, clicking, I would personally leave it be until tomorrow afternoon and widen the shell little by little, using tweezers, if you see any blood/veins stop, and set the duckling back in the incubator.

Thank you for your responses. For now, I will wait and keep my fingers crossed that he will come out OK on his own. If he still hasn’t hatched, I will try to assist tomorrow.
