Are there any tarps that don't degrade within a few months?

I have several of the black/silver heavy duty tarps from TSC. One is over half of my chicken run. I can see some pinholes where it has rubbed against the chicken wire that spans the distance between the metal framing. It's going into its 4th winter. It is securely tied down so that it doesn't flap in the wind, but it does get sun in the summer.

The rest are over our wood piles and have more wear due to more handling, but are still in darn good shape.

I meant to post this in my last post and didn't for some reason. In this picture you can kinda see how much brighter the all white option is; the coop in the back has vinyl with white on one side and black on the other. I buy more than I need and cut them to whatever size I need. They're waterproof and UV resistant and made so they can't tear easily.

I’ve gone through many tarps at my place, as I use them to cover a project car I inherited. They all seem to fall apart quickly after exposure to the hot CA sun, and the last one was really expensive HD one that didn’t last 2yrs.
So this time I decided to try out UV stable plastic sheeting used on greenhouses (affordable compared to heavy duty tarps). Just put the tarp on the car today, so we’ll see how it holds up!

I would look at greenhouse or truck tarp suppliers.
Another thing I saw was ranchers around here covering their alfalfa and haystacks with used billboard signage. Maybe you can find a local billboard company that can help you out. They last for years and withstand all kinds of weather. We had some advertising Central City Gambling joints.

Thanks! I'm trying to stay away from greenhouse plastic because, like normal tarps, when it degrades it turns into tiny pieces of plastic that are impossible to clean up. Billboards are banned in Vermont, but I might be able to find a place in NY.

I hate tarps but I need them....I recently bought an "extreme-duty weather-resistant tarp." I think it's been outside for a little less than a year and it is no longer waterproof and it is shedding tons of tiny bits of plastic into my chicken run. :he Has anyone found better tarps or alternatives? And what do I do about all the plastic in my chicken run?! 😣
I've used bill board tarps for 10 years. They haven't degraded noticably in that time. Extreme weather black/silver tarps give me three years before they start selfdistructing.
