Are there any true Americanas in this group?

There's a seller on craigslist selling "true americanas" but couldn't tell me what color variety. Am I right to suspect that these are probably just over priced easter eggers?

Yeah, can't comment on the price - around here that'd not be too crazy for some chicks - but I don't think those are Ameraucanas. They're not good pictures for IDing... MAYBE they're ugly BBS, but I see brown in the "splash" that screams mixed.

good on you asking for color variety. Another trick is the breed itself is spelled Ameraucana. Anything else is a deliberate ruse IMO.

Seller is spelling them "Americana" instead of Ameraucana which is a huge red flag. Someone selling the true breed would make darn sure to spell it correctly. I wouldn't pay more than $3 to $5 per chick for them. Good on you for checking first before taking the plunge!

If you exclude the black chicks and the lavender chicks, you are left with yellow, brown, blue and brown, and black and white chicks, which would be the ameraucanas. Since there are so many different colors of "ameraucana" chicks, they are probably EEs. Even if they are ameraucanas, they wouldn't be good quality because the colors are mixed.

Thank you everyone! I had hoped that maybe they were more than EE given the other breeds they're selling but I think you're all right.
