Are there better Breeds to put togeather or can you put any chicken breed with another?

I have some Buff Orpians and I am looking to add a couple of others to the mix but am looking for another bread that will get along with this one. any suggestions.

I don't have orpingtons, so can't say for them. I have Silver Laced Wyandottes, Red Sex Links, Black Sex Links, Redstars, Rhode Island Red mix and just got some Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and they are all together. When I introduce new chickens to the coop and run, I put them in still in a wire cage so they can all "visit" each other for a day or two. There is still some upset in the hierarchy because the social order has been disturbed and they have to re-figure out who is top hen and who is the bottom pecked on hen. Also, don't put new chicks in with full grown hens or they might kill the intruders. You have to wait until the chicks are big enough to run away, or get out of the way of the hens. I introduce chicks at about 3 months. I hope this helps.
