Like with that exotic feathering? What ducks have "strange" feathering? Im adding to my breeding stock and wouldnt mind getting something unique in the line.

There are silky ducks which are strange looking like the silkies ive seen them at different place but not many.

Are they rare or can you order them from a hatchery? i think Id like a few.

The last I knew only Holderread was offering them though other hatcheries may have gotten stock to offer them next year. The feather mutation is nothing like that of Sebs though. There are pictures on the Holderread website. They aren't the wavy feathered snowballs of a good Seb. the feathers are very soft and silky, not the hard feathers of a normal duck. I have heard that they are so soft that they can't fly, are not waterproof and can suffer from the cold more than normal ducks. These are just stories I have heard and I won't vouch for any of them.

I just bought two adult black silky ducks from Holderreads. The female can get enough lift to go over me. I had heard they couldn't fly, and really she can't, but when I was trying to grab her, the lift she can get sure makes it feel like she can. They are waterproof, and swim just as well as my ducks. I find the iridescent coloring to be amazing and the chest feathers are awesome. I also like that they are bantam sized. I can't wait for babies next spring!
