Are there predators who will/can chew through fairly thin (3/8") plywood walls?

Rats. I had some rats that chewed through a 2x4 stud in between some walls and made nests in the walls. I did renovate that coop. No more rats.

Rats will be your biggest issue. As long as those are taken care of, you probably don't have to worry. My coop is made of 1/2 inch plywood and I'm not worried. Most everything else will not work that hard if there is an easier way or give up trying. That doesn't mean that it cannot happen but it is unlikely.

I have seen dogs claw their way right through picket fence boards, around 5/8" thick pine. And rats will have no problem chewing through thin plywood. Can you back it up with some hardware cloth?
