Our broody hen is sitting on 2 eggs, and we "think" it as been 24 days. She was broody for several weeks before we decided to go ahead and let her sit, so we lost track of definite days. So today I put a light to them and I don't see any movement (very hard to see) but there is definitely a dark area and I can see some veins. Don't know whether to just keep letting her sit, it's so hot and I can tell she is worn out. Any advice is appreciated. P.s. all these pop up ads make it almost impossible to post or read :(

Hi,

Welcome to BYC! :frow

You seeing veins is a great sign!

Could you bring her out to eat and drink, or if she's too hostile to you, just bring her a small dish of some wet crumbles? That'll hydrate her, plus give some nourishment.

Sorry about the ads. Those of us who buy or win a PFM (Premium Feather Membership) don't see them.

She actually comes out to eat and drink, she just always returns to the nest fairly quickly. I could see what looked like veins but no movement or form, and we believe it's been 24 days now.

Have You candled in a dark room?
Has she been seperate from other hens to prevent new eggs from being added?
Yes, I tried to post pics of what we saw, and it is still just the original 2 eggs, the other hens don't use the nest she's in.

Just leave her alone for at least a few more days. I had an egg hatch on day 27 (and one on day 28, I think!). If you're removing the eggs or pushing her out of the nest, you could be messing with the necessary temp/humidity for them to hatch properly.
