Have i just not been paying attention all these years

Actually it explains on one of the pics of the silkies on Feathersite http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGP/Silkies/BRKSilkies.html that in Europe there actually are two sizes of silkies but in America there is only one recognized sized and it falls pretty much in the middle of the two European sizes.
There is a guy not far from me though that I bought some call ducks from that had some huge silkies, pretty ones too, that he kept for broodies.

Thanks everyone i thought i was off my gourd and had missed the chat on that somewhere.

I always check these things out with the experts here cause we all know BYC is the best place to come for the REAL facts!

I've wondered the same thing -- have been to a couple of chicken shows and the Silkies were all about the same size ---

I would like to have a big ol' Silkie pullet, tho -- :-)

I do see them in different size's all the time i had some black ones that were whoppers.
The ones i have now are blue splash and kind of petite

I have a big white silkie called Kate Moss, she is the same size as my araucan and RIR. She is the nicest natured chicken we ever had, but the buff hooligans pick on her as she is quite timid.
