I purchased 2 white hens and a black rooster last fall. I was told the fellow was a breeder and that he showed his chickens. He said they were Ameracaunas.
The hens lay the prettiest blue eggs, and the insides are blue also.
Something killed my rooster and 1 hen the other day. I was debating on incubating the surviving hen's eggs.
I thought if Ameracaunas were rare I wanted to use the fertilized eggs to replace them. If not, I would just buy more hens.

The Blue rooster and the Blue hen are Ameraucana. The gold with black penciling is an Easter Egger, not a recognized variety and yellow skinned. Several hatcheries are now breeding Blue/Black/Splash Ameraucana, so they aren't really rare any longer.
