Rhode Island Reds sound like they may be what I have a few of....by looking at the pics on feathersite anyways. Will have to check out my babies again!

I thought that the colour of the egg depended on the colour of the bird. That is, a lavender Araucana will lay blue eggs, and a black Araucana will lay green eggs.
Is that right?

No, they are easter eggers
To clarify, Easter Eggers are not Araucanas. Araucanas are a rare breed, rumpless and with cheek tufts (not muffs like Ameraucanas have). Easter Eggers are what you get from 99% of all hatcheries in this country when you order "Ameraucanas/araucanas/Americanas" or whatever spelling they choose to use for them. They have mixed genetics and rarely breed true.They are definatly Easter Eggers! I have aracaunas and they look excactly like that! Good luck with your Aracaunas/Easter Eggers!![]()
