I found several of these spots on one of my buff cochin hens. She i heavy and older. She was a rescue, pretty sure she has never laid an egg in the 3-4 months I've had her. I haven't inspected my hens in a week to two weeks. Just found that some have lice. Maybe mite, but probably just lice. Pictures are of the bugs I found and the weird looking blood blister things.
Are these bad infestation areas or blood blisters or something else?

Those are three little bugs. Oblong bodies. You can see some have red inside. I think thats blood that they have been sucking/eating from damaged skin. Yuk. They move very quickly and hard to catch. Only 2 chickens have a lot, the rest have just a few, and some none yet.
The feather has some residue on it. It looks like chicken mite eggs. And the little bugs look like chicken lice. But I'm not 100% on the mites.
