As usual, I am hatching lots and lots of boys. 6/7 of my Cochins. They are usually pretty easy to spot, but I am unfamiliar with most other breeds, so here goes. All of the birds are four weeks old:

1. Polish/Silkie (a)

I'm not familiar with any of those mixes. But the EE looks like a pullet. And so far as I can tell... the others do, too.

Maybe you could post update pics in a few weeks? It might be easier to tell then.

Thanks for the reply. I hope you are right about the Ameraucana. I'm not sure what to look for in the Polish/Silkies. At this stage, most of them are still chest bumping, and it's hard to tell from that if they are boys. The Sebright mix is hyper and a big troublemaker, but very cute.

I have heard that Polish breeds can be especially hard to integrate, because their head feathers invite picking. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I hope you are right. I am most suspicious of the lighter colored Polish mix and the OEGB mix. Both can be a little aggressive, and the lowered neck feathers of the Polish seem a little pointy to me. On the OEGB mix, the beginnings of the rosecomb and the waddles have me worried.

My other birds are Cochins, and they are very easy to tell by this age.
