Hi I purchased some 1 week old "chicks" a while ago and after spoiling them rotten in the hopes of delishus eggs, they've decided to reward my efforts by crowing at dawn...and now midday..and sometimes 3pm. Have I been deceived into thinking these boisterous mofos are chickens? Is anyone able to tell me if the grey one and the black one are chicks or roosters please?

The black and the gray are both cockerels. The barred bird is your only pullet.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Roosters are chickens. Presumably you're wanting to know if your chickens are roosters or hens. As sourland said, the gray and black chickens are both cockerels (young roosters) and the barred chicken is a pullet (young hen). If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

You were not deceived at all... "chicks" does not mean they are females... chicks are simply baby chickens, male or female...
Sorry you ended up with 2 boys and 1 girl...

@sourland and @Michael OShay explained it very well so I'll just say "hello" and thanks for joining us!
