Hello everyone!
I am hatching eight bantam eggs under a bantam hen. Today, i got two, and went into a dark room, and used a flashlight to candle them and see what was inside. I am not really familiar with candling, and i don't really know what to look for, i just thought i could maybe see what was inside. I set the eggs under her on June 23rd in the evening. So the first eggs, i shone the flashlight on it, and i could see all the way through it, and it was orange. It had a fairly darker nickel sized shape on one side, kind of stuck. The second egg was black all around, except on the top, were there was kind of like an air sac? I was just wondering if this was normal, and if it is, why were the two different? I didn't do like any kind of check for fertility, but i don't really know how too.
Any input would be appreciated! If i need pics, i can do that.
Thanks!

Yes the six are developing. That doesn't mean all of them are going to hatch though. You might get 3/4 chicks, depending on how reliable the hen is :p. When candling, look for movement. Even if it's dark, the chick could have died in the egg (this is normal-ish I think).
WARNING:
Be Careful When Handling The Eggs. I Once Had A Rotten One Explode On Me :tongue:sick:sick. Yes They Actually Do That.
If the inside sounds like there is water inside and not yolk/white, dispose of it carefully ( or you could just throw it as far away from you as possible). I can't tell you much as it's only happened once, but you could research!
Enjoy your chicks!

All six of my eggs that were fertile hatched this morning! They are soooooo cute!
