The naked neck is the one I suspected first... Those are some BIG wattles for a 6 month old hen, but I don't see any saddle feathers so perhaps not.
I also notice the Show Girl/Naked Neck Mix seems red in the face, but her body looks like a hen.
A silkie is a possibility but they all look like pullets to me.
So I'm stumped! I will keep staring that the pictures some more. I would bundle up with some hot coffee and spend a couple hours out there with them and wait for someone to get busy, if it were me. I'd have to know!
MAAAABYE.. see these: 2 Japanese Bantam, Hatched May 1, 2013 ?
See how one is larger and has red feathers in the neck? Can you take more pictures of that one, side shots? the face looks like a girl but just curious.
The larger one in the last picture is with my FBCM. The Japanese Bantam is a very flighty bird. The only one out there that isn't like a puppy dog. The rest all follow you around, let you pick them up etc.. I don't know, its driving me mad. I think I'm buying an incubator, but not sure which one would be best. And so right now I have the first 2 eggs from today, pointy side down and the large side up in an egg crate on the counter. I don't know anything about hatching eggs.
Both my silkies haven't laid one single egg. Everyone kept saying, once it hits like December they will probably go broody. Nope. So I guess I'm getting an incubator.
hmm.. do you give them supplemental light? I believe when they go below 12hrs light/day they will stop laying, so you can encourage them to start in winter by turning a light on in their coop/run a few hours before dawn.
No, I know its due to winter, but I don't mind getting the 2-3 eggs a day. Doesn't bug me. I heard if you just hang the LED Christmas Rope lights out there, that's enough light, but I'm not too worried about it. We usually only eat eggs every 3-4 days anyways. So its been nice not getting 5-7 a day. And now more girls are starting to lay randomly so once spring hits, we will have a million eggs.
