Are the ISA Browns ready for outside? I like in middle GA and outlet load are 50 degrees at night. They have a solid wood coop with hay. Can get go outside at night now? There are six of them and they are getting too big to be inside now. I am not sure of the age but 5 weeksish maybe? There are smaller chicks the RIRs in the photo that are not ready yet. I’m just looking for info on the ISAs. They have been outside during the day time for weeks and are used to outside.

I have Novogens which are close relatives to the Isa browns. I wouldn't recommend letting them out during the night. The are at a vulnerable age. And predators are usually plentiful this time of year, they have very poor eye sight. Try and provide a safe place for them to rest during the night. Making your hens comfortable now will pay off big time with eggs in the future.

As long as their coop and run are predator proof then they will be fine.

The coop is secure. We have double latch doors with caribiners to hold them shut. They would be locked in the coop at night and only let out during the day. They are currently outside in a pen all day and come in from 6pm to maybe 9am.

Another question. We didn’t build a run yet because they are going to free range but we are going to screen the bottom of the coop so they can go under if needed. Is that ok to lock them up all night where they can’t get outside at all?

I do. My birds 100 free range. You want to give them a solid 6+ hours to sleep worry free. So they can get ready to work for you. And lay those eggs in the morning. Training them to come baack to the coop was a fun endeavor. What worked for me was not feeding them much in the. Morning. And training them to know what food in a coffee can sounded like. Feeding them a few meals nights only when you think they are ready will bring them in at night.
