I have 2 - 12 week old Silver Laced Polish which we are not sure of their sex. They are both indoors currently due to the smaller one having wry neck & they don’t like to be separated. We have researched but everything seems contradictory. I feel like the larger one is a hen and the smaller is a roo, but thrown off by the crest & saddle feathers. However, we are new to raising poultry.

What do you all think? Hens or Roos?

Polish are very difficult to tell gender, and sometimes it takes until they are several months old. But to my eyes, I do think you're right about the bigger one being a pullet. The crest is tidier than a male's crest would usually be.

I'm not sure about the smaller one. In the coming weeks, cockerels will get male specific feathering on the saddles and shoulders, and then it should be easier to tell.

Ok, thanks for the input. I figured we would have to wait longer to tell.
