Thank you! I will spray every 7 days for 4 weeks to be safe.I would. As far as removing the shavings, spay and see if it gets rid of them. Often times especially with mites it takes 3 or 4 weekly treatments because it does not kill the mites eggs but will as they hatch out. Good luck...
I use poultry and garden dust in the nest boxes... maybe I should add a good bit to the shavings when I replace them? I have about 3-4 inches of pine shavings under the roost. This is how the coop is set up:You can also get some poultry dust and put it in the shavings. I also put the poultry dust in my nest boxes. Again good luck...
Ok, so... I went out to the coop and captured one of the creepy crawlies. This is the most clear pic I could get of it close-up. Put it next to a dime to show its size.

It seems to still be kind of active during the day. Any idea of identification?
I looked at a lot of mite pics online and it almost looks like a "predator mite" that kills and eats the red mites... however... I don't want any kind of mite infestation... so they will die a drowning death of 1,000 permethrin floods. Now I don't know! LOL
That doesn't look like a beetle now. Whatever it is, the Permethrin *should* do them in.
