Are these Mites? *PICS*

I have two white EES that look the same. Roosters have been behaving... I don't see any pecking amongst the ladies, either.

What was that about having to pluck the feathers to get them to grow back? Someone mentioned that. How do you do it?

My girls were SO beautiful, and they've looked like wrecks for a few months now.

Depending on the feather, it can be difficult or fairly easy. Just hold the bird firmly, grasp the feather at the base of the shaft, and pull. It's easy after the first time you do it. It may cause some discomfort to the bird, but not for long. And sometimes (especially foot feathers) they will bleed a little, but not severely. And you HAVE to pluck them, or else they will not grow back until the bird molts them naturally.

I had a similar issue before we got roos. It turned out to be feather picking and fighting over the nests. The hen would have her feathers scratched/plucked out when she was laying because another hen was bossy and wanted her nest...it went on for a while.

We made a saddle for her back and let them grow back in. The neck may need some blue kote or something. Most of it looks like the pin feathers already growing back in.
