I live in southern New Mexico near El Paso, tx. I have a flock of six mature layers and four young hens about 2 months old. The temperatures have reached record highs here and I am suddenly finding these mites gathered in the door of the nesting boxes. They are clearly taking blood meals, seemingly from the girls' legs. My husband treated the girls with pyrethrum dust tonight. They don't look like anything we can find online.

Any experience? We've had lots of white wing doves breaking into the coop to steal water and food lately.

Those don't look like Northern Fowl Mites to me, or like any type of mite I know of at all. They seem to be too big. Also, you'll usually find Northern Fowl mites on the birds, not on the coop in plain sight.

Those are Poultry or Fowl Ticks. Treating the birds won't help very much to deal with the infestation, you have to get them in the crevices where they hide. You're probably right about them coming in with the doves, that's how I think my chickens got them. Here are some suggestions for dealing with them.
