Are these prices normal?!

Im probably late to the party, but yes those seem like really high prices. Unless they have a bunch of certifications, testing, vaccines etc they are also included with that price. Are they special or rare breeds? If not then I would stay away.

I also find it odd as FB marketplace has a policy of not selling animals.....so how those are listed is beyond me ( unless that is the actual website listing?). I would check other local breeders or local farms/ chicken groups first. Or weigh the pros and cons of getting chicks in that breed and raising those. Definitely do the research for your area. Breeds, prices, etc.

Those prices seem nuts to me, but maybe it depends on their ages. I suspect the pictures are “this is how I’ll look when I grow up.”

I buy from a local breeder who also orders eggs for hatching. Her 6-week-old pullets (can be reasonably sure of sex) are $25 or $30 each. All chicks are vaccinated for Marek’s, and her farm is NPIP and state-certified as AI-free. She’s serious about biosecurity - we met her on the gravel drive, outside the farm fencing, for the handover.

I haven’t bought any of the chickens she breeds and probably won’t, as she only sells day-old chicks from those breeds.

Those prices are not reasonable. They are poor quality hatchery birds. If you want poor quality hatchery birds just order started pullets from a hatchery, they do the same testing for Pullorum Typhoid, MAYBE Avian Influenza and mycoplasma. Those birds would cost about 30 dollars. Maybe 50.
I am in the NPIP and that doesn't cost too much.
The only requirement for NPIP is the yearly tests and the inspection. I guess my operation is too small for them to care to come over and inspect them because they never do.
They do not test for a lot of the major diseases that are actually a problem in the US. I control those by monitoring my birds for signs of disease and getting rid of any that have problems but NPIP is not a guarantee that the birds will be disease free. Still, if someone goes into the effort it's a lot more likely.
