Are these REALLY Barred Rocks??

I bought 6 chicks at the feed store, 2 of them were supposed to be Barred Rocks. But where are the "bars"??
These (I hope) girls are 8 weeks old. My FIL says they'd be barred by now. What they are is HUGE compared to the other girls. Are they Jersey Giants??

As chicks they looked like little penquins, black on their backs, grey by the wing and yellow bottoms.

Definitely not Barred Rock! Doesn't look like Jersey Giant to me either. Maybe Austrolorps?

I don't know what you have but I am sure it is not a barred rock. At least mine looked nothing like that.

Not Barred Rocks, but possibly Black Ausralorp mixes.

I would say Black Australorps. They are a little quicker to grow and mature. Great layers of Brown xLarge to Jumbo+ eggs.

I thought barred rocks have yellow legs? So, I'd rule them out....

They definately do not look like barred rock but then again they do not look like my australops either. Mine do not have any white on them. Maybe they are a mix of something??

I would agree with an australorp mix of some sort

If you got it from a Feed store its an Australorp. They tend to sell Australorps as BR..Atleast from my experience. And yes, BA have white on them, they do not turn completely black until they molt those Juvenile feathers. Looks like a BA pullet to me.
