if they have white/pink legs then they are BOs, if not, probably RLSs, RIRs, or PRs.

I almost talked DH into going back there today to check out the mother hen and so he could see it for himself.

Thanks for the possible breed selections. From the pictures I've seen of BOs, there is no way the ones with brown are BO. These aren't all from the same hatch, so I'm hoping at least some of them turn out to be BO.

Dumb question, when you say white legs, you're talking about the feathers, right? Some pics I've seen of BO chicks, they look like they have pale yellow legs. Is this just because of lighting in the pics?

Did you mean RSL when you said RLS, or is this a breed I'm not familiar with?

At this point, we just enjoy the chicken personalities and their eggs, so I'm not worried about breeding (obviously or I wouldn't have bought from this guy

) so all of those breeds like fine to me, but I really do hope for at least a few BO from the 10 of them.

I've never had any barring or mottling on my Buffs but that may just be my breeding stock. Mine are always a pretty butterscotch color and they stay that way even after feathering.
Oh, and I currently have my brooder (and incubator) in my spare bedroom.

Yeah, I have a huge homemade brooder box in a corner of my living room for about a month in the spring, but no cows, pigs, weasels, goats, etc. Gives a whole new meaning to, "Come on in, but my house is a wreck!"....Whenever I feel like my place looks like a twister hit it, I'll just think back on the story of "Guano Joe" & his house full of poop machines...Wow! Suddenly I feel like Donna Reed......
