Are these Speckled Sussex?

So our little pullet in the original picture died the other day. Not sure what happened. We've introduced the cockrel to the flock and so far so good, but we're starting to think he's not a cockrel. Compared to the other one it was much bigger, but I rubbed it's neck earlier and it has no wattles at all. Thoughts? Here's some updated pics. We've also put it with some chicks and it's very motherly towards them.

It's definitely a cockerel. It doesn't have wattles due to the fact he is bearded.
 
I always thought the pea comb gene doesnt have wattles not the beard...looking at my bc1 maybe it is the beard lol
