In the top picture, the white stuff at the top of the egg is chalaza. The yellow stringy stuff below the egg does not look like any chalaza I have ever seen. Are those eggs coming from a single hen, or more than one? @Eggcessive, @coach723 what do you think?

Definitely not worms. The yellow bits could be part of another malformed yolk, or a bit of tissue from the oviduct, basically a big meat spot. Either would be edible and not harmful, despite the yuck factor. Depending on the age of the bird, it could just be a random glitch, a glitch caused by getting ready to molt or from a new layer, or a brewing reproductive problem. I would just keep an eye on that bird (if you can ID who laid it) and see if it happens again. Hopefully it's just a glitch.

Yes it’s the yellow stuff I’m looking at. It does not look like any of the chalaza I’ve seen from about 8 weeks of eggs from these hens. I only have four hens, so they very well could have been from the same hen but I’m not sure. These were two eggs out of 9 that I cracked this morning. The other 7 looked normal

Thank you! They are 25 weeks old so relatively new to laying. I don’t see any worms in any of their poop so this is reassuring. I appreciate it!
