Are they all going to die then?

My Faverolle started with an upper respiratory thing a few days ago. We separated her. We live in Canada and can’t get Tylan or anything else to treat this, there is nobody anywhere near us that treats chickens. Two more of my flock of 7 hens have now come down with it.
So is this the end of my flock then since I can’t get an antibiotic?
I have put oil of oregano in their water, coop is kept nice and clean and they’re outside all day. I’m frustrated that I can’t find what I need to help them.

Wish I could help. Do you know anyone in the States? Ship to them and then they ship to you? Might be too late for now, but might help in the future.

No I don’t know anyone. I’ve had these girls for 4 years with no issue, and now this. The crappy thing is that I have a bunch of babies to integrate eventually.....but if they have a respiratory thing, I can’t really do that unless I want everyone to get it and probably die from it. Ugh. I can’t believe how hard it is in this country to find the stuff you need for chicken illness, it’s beyond frustrating.

I found a chicken vet who is prescribing Tylan for them today! So relieved!

Hopefully it’s only infectious bronchitis, which needs to run its course but isn’t usually fatal. They will be lifelong carriers, but some chickens never develop symptoms.

What are the symptoms? There are a few different types of respiratory diseases in chickens, including IB virus, MG, ILT virus, coryza, and a couple of others. MG symptoms may respond to but is not cured by Tylosin or Tylan. Have your chickens been exposed to the disease by a new flock member who is a carrier, or possibly from migrating birds?

I ended up finding an amazing chicken vet. It’s not MG, we narrowed it down. She prescribed tetracycline and they’ve all cleared up and are doing great. I’m so relieved.
