Are they doomed?

Thank you all... the clock will click to day 19 about mid day today so I'm pushing backlockdown to tonight (as advised due to high humidity) and a little prayer to boot... we'll see... I'm running dry and I still have 45% so if it goes up at all today I think I'm going to go into lockdown dry and keep an eye on it. If it don't continue to rise I'll add water through the vent hole...

II never told you guys what i have...(please pardon spelling) i have 10 blueblack white crested polish, 12 cream brebanters, 6 domineckers 3 EE/X experiments, 1 ameriflower and 23 RIR's... Lord I hope the polish and brebanters do well or my wife is going to come unhinged! Lol y'all pray for me!

That's quite a variety. We wish you the best of luck and keep us posted. I would make sure humidity is 60% for hatch. Personally, I'm uncomfortable at less than 65%, but if you don't open the bator, you're fine at a lower humidity. Polish are adorable birds. Hope she gets some.

P.S. that link was very informitave and quite an easy read too... thank you amy!

You are welcome.

Preliminary update... went into lockdown (dry at 55%) on late day 19... mid day today the clock will click to day 21. (I put them in mid morning on a Saturday) woke up this morning at 67% with 2 babies out hopin around and one sitting in the egg with the hood up lol... if anything about my incubator is true, it's that the temp is consistent. It stays between 37.9c and 38.2c at all times... not sure why they are hatching so early? (albeit not that early) at any rate I'm happy to have the three I have and any more are just more blessings! This is how I went into lockdown

First, congratulations. It’s a good start. I predict it’s not over.

It’s not really early. There are a lot of reasons eggs can hatch a little early or late, average incubating temperature is a big one but there are several differences in individual eggs that can make them a day or more apart in hatch time. I’ve had some hatches that were more than a full two 24-hour-days apart (more than 48 hours) from the first one hatching until the last and I’ve had some hatches that were totally over within 16 hours of the first one hatching. As long as they hatch within 24 hours on one side or the other of the 21 day’s time I consider them right on time.

Actually with the temperatures you mentioned, that’s running just a tad warm if the thermometer is accurate, the eggs should be a little earlier. It should be running about a half a degree Celsius cooler. But many thermometers aren’t really that accurate. With the timing on your first ones hatching I would not change a thing. Sounds like the temperature is as perfect as you can get it.

When I used my old lg bator it usually settled a tad warm and all my hatches were day 19/20. But my chicks were always healthy so that's all that mattered to me.
Congrats!

I'm at about 15-18 chicks out and been in lockdown about 24 hrs now... the humidity has shot up to 73%. is that safe for the chicks that haven't hatched yet? Should o break lockdown and do anything or let em ride?
