102??? My LG still air hates me..... The only temp I can get it steady at is 102. I barely and I mean BARELY turn it down and it'll drop to 97....... Its day 4 with this and there is some growth, but are they in danger???

Im new to hatching but from what ive read the optimum temp is 101 ..so surely 102 cant be that bad ..

Incubator temperature should be maintained between 99° and 100°F. The acceptable range is 97° to 102°F. Mortality is seen if the temperature drops below 96°F or rises above 103°F for a number of hours. If the temperature stays at either extreme for several days, the eggs may not hatch. Overheating is more critical than underheating. Running the incubator at 105°F for 15 minutes will seriously affect the embryos, while running it at 95° for 3 or 4 hours will only slow the chick's metabolic rate.

If you thermometer is on top of the eggs on a still air, 102 is perfect.

To better adjust the LG, a friend of mine glued a 2 inch disk on top of the nob. That way she could change the temp by a smaller amount. Worked well for her.

Mine is the same way...the day I stuck the eggs in, it was fine, but then that night it soared up to 110, and I didn't change the setting at all! I turned it down just barely, and it wouldn't get above 80...I also have issues because it sits in a room that is fairly chilly (I keep it in my office at the back of the house because it is very noisy, and to keep the cats away, but since our house is only heated by a wood stove in the front part of the house, it gets cold back there), and I found I have to keep a blanket wrapped around the incubator to keep it at a high enough temperature. It's working now, fortunately, and I haven't lost too many eggs. I've got 18 developing for sure out of an original 21. I think the temperature knob on the LGs must not be very good.

Great question Maknat I was having the same issue with my LG9200. Thanks to all those who have responded.
