So I am new to ducks and mine are almost 5 months old. Last night my husband caught my drake doing his thing so to speak. Does that mean my girls will start laying soon?

I have a question about ducks beginning to lay eggs and feed....

My ducks are 12 weeks on Monday. I have about 10 lbs of starter feed left and really do not want to buy another 50# bag. I have planned on starting them on layer feed at 16 weeks. Would it be too early to mix the remaining starter feed with a 50# bag of layer feed (you know, maybe 1:1 ratio with what's left of starter to transition to new feed).

Thanks!

I have 2 choc runner females and 2 welsh harlequin females....adorable.

I'm not sure if it applies to ducks or not but with chickens you don't switch until you get the first egg. Too much calcium before they are using it for the eggshell is bad for them. My ducks are around 20 weeks old and still on starter feed.

Thank you, I appreciate your reply. Just wondering if I could get layer feed now, but I can wait. Off to Farm and Fleet to get more starter feed. : )
