...of the rooster?

I have several that are 5 months now and they're not laying. Will having a rooster around make them not lay?

LMAO -- I just spit my imaginary drink out!!!!

A bit of both. The bannies are finally standing up to him. He only bothers Holly the EE and Feisty Redhead the NH Red. Feisty Redhead beats him up and Holly gladly submits. lol

Eggberta is a smidgin too young to lay, and Elvira and Roadie (Australorp + RIR) are a same-sex couple. I don't think I'm going to get any eggs

Mine are only 17 weeks and I'm worried about the same thing.

I think Big Roo is stressing the girls out (mounting them), they don't like him, and some go into the coop in the middle of the hot day to get away from him. I would just throw him out and make him free range, but I already got Roo Roo out free ranging ('cause he's been mean since 3.5 wks).

Oh, what to do. One may be eaten.

My roosters are overwhelmingly thugs. 4 or 5 of the six are going to start free ranging in the next day or so ... the poor hens are done with them, and so am I.

The one farthest up the roosting polls gets to stay...the others are headed to the barn, also now known as the 'gentlemen's quarters', with the help of sheets, towels, whatever it takes to get those beautiful, cruel monsters outta my coop!

Sheesh. They are wicked.

Are any of your chickens molting? Maybe your chickens are not ready to lay yet. The average age for a chicken to lay is 6 months old. Have they started laying yet?
