Are they probably as advertised? + what color?

So we recently picked up a couple more babies and I, fearful after picking up turkens just to find out they’re cornish cross, would love to be certain these are at least *probably* Buff Orpingtons vs some kind of meat bird cross. 😅 These pics aren’t the best because they’re in zoomies mood today and did not want to stress them out, but not sure if it’ll suffice or if I need to try again tomorrow with bribery. 😂
Forgive my gross nails too. Been working outside today and am overdue for a trim. 🤭
We also full cleaned the brooder yesterday and it’s already a mess so we’re about to spot clean, so again forgive the mess. They’re normally in pristine conditions but man, these little guys poop a lot!

Now onto some other mysteries!
This was in the rhode island red bin but I didn’t think they looked like this. Is it possibly a different breed or likely some sort of mix?

And mystery number three was in with the black sex links! Black sex link, mystery mix, or a different particular breed?

And onto our Cochins! We got two in our Cackle order and I think one is Patridge but I’m not 100%! This is more just mild curiosity.

Looks like a buff Orpington, a welsummer, not sure on the black one, and a partridge cochin.

You have no idea how relieved I am to hear that the first looks like a Buff. One of the other two is a little lighter yellow overall - does the color vary a little with buffs as chicks? They were all very... well, orbous. 😅 They didn't seem at all like the cornish cross babies we got (two in the Turken bin didn't have naked necks and we grabbed them too - but they were bright yellow ALL over). The buff orp bin babies all seem to have the same leg color too.

A welsummer? Woah! That would be so neat. :wee I knew it looked a good bit different from the RIRs, but wanted to gamble with a 'not sure'. 🤭

Yeah, that black one has me so puzzled. Strange little one! And very lively. I went back for some sapphire gems (or, I think they're sapphire gems) and it was in the black sex link bin. I'm a sucker for "probably labeled wrong"s just to see what I get.

Both the Cochins are partrige too? So cool! I had a feeling one was but was waffling on the other. Thanks so much for your replies!

Looks like the other cochin is gold laced.

The buff looks right for an Orpington, the striped one after that could be a Welsumer, brown Leghorn or Easter egger. Time will tell, and with the black one. That one doesn't fit anything except probably a hybrid.

Oh wonderful on the Buff! Really was heartbroken about the cornish crosses so I've been worried about needing to let myself down easy if these ended up crosses too. Relief!

I hadn't thought about a Leghorn! Definitely had considered EEs but not those or a welsummer. (Will never have enough of those, I don't think 🤭 ) Great possibilities!

Hybrid would be so cool! I'll have to update when it's grown to see if anyone can maybe pinpoint a possible mix. It'll be so fun to see it grow up.

Gold laced, awesome! Partidge and Gold Laced are two of my favorite colorations of Cochins. We struck gold!

The black one could be an off color BSL. Not sure. Time will tell. I'm glad you're happy with your chickies!

So very happy! Haha! Honestly we just want a very varied, happy flock to watch get old and take care of. The eggs are definitely a bonus though. 🤭 We're having a blast watching them grow, and my kiddo's been loving helping take care of them (He's 14). He mentioned being nervous about the buffs too because of the cornish crosses, so I figured it was time to make a thread.

Cornish cross would be pure white with no trace of any other color in the feathers. They are also wide chested. I think you are safe.

Thank you! I hadn't paid attention to ours chest-wise, but they were BRIGHT bright neon yellow and then are two to three times the size of our other 2 week olds now. 💔 But one of them looked almost buff and now has reddish feathers coming in. I think that one was possibly a red ranger cross. But they were much more highlighter-y than these for sure, but man were we nervous.

The folks at TSC apologized and said they were just labeled as 'Turkens'. They've been sending complaints up to the new supplier every time a customer is (understandably) upset with mislabels and are hoping they can get rid of this supplier as such.
