Are they pullets or roos..

Theses guys were given to me about 5 1/2 weeks ago when my sister went into her barn and there they were in the middle of the run. She had no clue of these little guys. I have had them now 5 1/2 weeks. I have no clue if roos or pullets. If they are roos i will have to get rid of them as i am not allowed to have them in the city.

I have had them for 5 1/2 weeks but did not get them straight from hatching. My sister does not know exactly when they hatched. They just showed up in the barn

I’m leaning towards both being cockerels, but hard to see. Any chance you can enlist some help and get closer shots, a side shot and a head on shot of each ones comb as well?

On the second photo it looks like the one right in front of the white sheet is a pullet and the other is a cockerel due to the bigger and redder comb.

Hmm... Now that these are closer, you might just have to wait a couple of weeks. It seems a little early to tell now. Maybe someone who is more experienced can figure it out.

Do we know if they were hatched eggs from your sister’s flock, or random birds that just showed up? Any neighbours nearby they could have come from?
I’m going to stick with my guess of both cockerels; I think the one with slightly less comb development is just a little further behind. I’ve hatched enough boys this year, lol, and every time there’s at least one that’s a little behind everyone else. I’ve got 2x 8 week old chicks right now that are similar to yours in that way, actually. The one has a bigger comb, more wattle development, and the other looks like he should be a couple of weeks younger based on comb/wattles, although they hatched together.

they were hatched from her flock.. This would be a shame if both cochrels as i can not keep them.
