so my birds are being extremlhy lazy tehre insdie sleeping on my dog bed and from about 10 to well its 5 they are still just laying around in front of fan i gave them the boot 3 times out side after watring and cooling everything off but as soon as i am not looking they are coming back in and laying down so myu ? for 3 month old chicks how active should they be. should i be mean and just make them stay out side?

How hot is it? my chicks just sit around in the shad when it gets hot, i even thought my roo was dead yesterday.

I'm sure my temps are nowhere near yours. Mine aren't real active in the afternoon in this heat. They will get up and come to me when I approach the run but are usually laying on the ground when I go out. Early in the morning they seem fine and roam about the yard.

right now at 5:53pm my back poarch is reading 116 and its shaded and trees but the sun is shining on the trees my girls are active in the am and i did just booted them out again and there in my garden enjoying some fresh bell peppers of my bush (dam birds) this side of the house gets am sun till noon then it starts to shade but ya these girls have no energy just laying around and my poor cherrio (buff orphington) strechers her self out as much as she can and opens her wings mouth breathing she is my heavest bird and just really hating the heat thats one reason i am letting them hang out inside as much but i think it might be bad cuz im working again so mon - fri there out in there coop and run till i get home at 5 to let them out. my mom goes down and spays the sand down in the run and coop to help them stay cool they also have a fan and cool air blown in from my swamp cooler. they just dont act near as active as they did a few weeks agao so i was worried.
