Hi everyone! I’ve been reading this site for months, prior to receiving my chicks. Just got my 7 girls, this past Tuesday. Since receiving them, they wouldn’t sleep! No one was notably loud, they weren’t huddled tight, though weren’t spread out either. So not cold, not hot. Food was full, water good. Everything clean: they just wouldn’t sleep. This morning I went out and found one of my girls had pasty butt. She was pretty darn impacted. Got it all cleaned out, she finally went potty but then the others started pecking her butt. I took her out and held her, while putting together a “sick tank.” In the mean time; everyone had finally gone to sleep. At the brooder, she was anxious to get back in, so I let her. She immediately joined everyone else in nap time. Now that that’s explained, couple questions:
1. Would one having pasty butt keep them all awake for days?
2. Is she safe with them or should I separate her?
3. Her poop was runny but normal brown. Should I be concerned?
I thought I had researched pretty extensively prior to getting them but you just don’t know til you’re in it, what to ask or look for.
