I'm not familiar with the black tailed red variety.. but apparently it's available at one of the hatcheries.. These do look similar to what wheaten is.. but I also saw a "black tailed buff" variety on other sites.Someone is selling the red ones as "black tail red marans"
OMG, I didn't know the red tail thing he said was a thing. He sent me pictures and I thought he was trying to sell me Sexlinks chickens.I'm not familiar with the black tailed red variety.. but apparently it's available at one of the hatcheries.. Thank you very much. I did not see the back. Maybe molting. I sent a request for Detailed pictures of the chickens he is currently selling. Thanks for the quarantine advice. I definitely will do that. They have the white legs and the coloring looks okay for wheaten Marans. But it's difficult to judge their shape because their backs have been stripped bare, probably from over mating.
I probably would not buy them because they are older and in rough shape, but if the price is right then it may be worth the gamble to you. These, if they are wheaten Marans, are hatchery quality.
If you do buy them, remember to quarantine them for around 30 days so you can be sure they won't spread disease to your existing flock.
Thank you. Do they produce dark eggs? Those are indeed Black Tailed Red Marans
