I was going to say the same thing about the eyes, and I'm a TOTAL chicken novice, with absolutely NO adult cochin experience.

I do not have cochins so I was curious and googled images for them. The vulture look and the pronounced eyes appear to be a trait of cochins. Though these two are more pronounced. When rooster are dubbed they have much the same appearance as they have more red unfeathered skin around the eyes. I also noticed that certain colors are more noticeable than others.

You should always communicate before bidding on live birds. Ask a lot of questions of the seller. To be honest I would not buy a bird from pics no matter how outstanding they look, unless it was a very respectable and recognized breeder.

I don't know anything about these particular cochins or the cochin standards, however, I can vouch for the breeders. I have bought birds from them in the past and can guarantee they will be clean as a whistle when you get them- no lice or bugs. At least all of mine were in great condition when I received them! I've never been dissappointed with any I've purchased from them. They even sent me a check after I purchased some birds and paid a few dollars too much on shipping.

If you have any questions about faults, just contact Steve or Brenda (Maplewind Poultry). They will be completely honest with you and tell you what you're getting. They are very knowledgeable and great people to deal with.

There may indeed be something wrong with the hens in the pictures, and I think the OP should communicate with the seller. As far as I am concerned I would not buy a live bird unless I was very comfortable and trust the seller.
