They will grow but I find them overpriced.
If you can find a local farm and feed store (not a national chain type) they often have better prices and more variety. Flea markets and farmer markets often also have plants. I got my ghost peppers from a flea market for 25 cents a plant where all the chain stores wanted $4 a plant. I haven't bought tomato plants in the better part of a decade so I can't help. Spoiled with a greenhouse.
