Are turkeys good for backyard homestead?

I want to know if I can raise female turkeys with other poultry such as ducks and chickens? What are the pros and cons of raising turkeys? Are the males really loud just wondering?

Some have raised turkeys and chickens without problems. Others like me have found turkeys to be troublemakers, harassing other species, and potentially killing them. Turkeys are a wonderful addition to a farm, but they are best kept and housed separately from other species.

Chickens can also carry black head. So if it is in your area you may not be able to keep they near each other.

You can call your agriculture extension service and ask about blackhead in your area and if people have success keeping them together.
