Are we doomed?

Hey NoVA--check out some of the incubator designs on this site, and search the threads. Several people have made good homemade bators for under $10. I think one person used a $2 styrofoam cooler from Walmart (I saw some for $1.88 at Tractor Supply not too long ago). They then used a light fixture & bulb they already had, and adjusted ventilation & insulation until the temp was where they wanted it.

Good luck!

When I was in high school a friend and I used this for a science project and it can work. It just takes a little more attention.
Never give up, never surrender.

We're still hanging in there. I even bought a plastic bin today to use for my chicks in a spurt of unjustified optimism.

Well, I think we're in real trouble now. Last night it got cold before bed so I adjusted the incubator and kept an eye on the temp. I went to bed at 10pm and it was perfect. Well, at some point it warmed up. I woke up around 3am and threw the blankets off of the bed but didn't think to check the eggs. When I checked them at 7am, the temp was up to 104. :-(

UPDATE: I just candled the eggs and I have veining and MOVEMENT!!!! in one! I'm a little excited. Can you tell? :-)
