Only way I keep it going is to remeber that my DW and Lil angel Hannah get what ever they want. So I keep going to wotk no matter what the hours to give them that want....(Mainly Hannah cause the DW cuts her stuff back)

Morning Illia! I saw that post you made on the Americauna (was it a black and brown?) and could just imagine you drooling! Ha! Did you ever work anything out on that hen? I also asked a question that you could answer on another thread but got no response. Is it true that the dark brown egg layers lose the intensity as they age and that to get the really dark eggs consistently you have to have young layers?

You gotta direct me to the threads you're talking about. Sometimes I post in so many at a night, then go to bed, and the next morning I get back to about half the threads I originally posted in. Gets me lost and I often worry I was needed for another reply.

Yes, dark brown egg layers do lose the intensity as the cycle goes on, but once the hen starts laying again the following spring, the color kicks back in.

OHHH, I thought that as the hen got older, her eggs got lighter! Good to know, I may have to look into those Marans I wanted!
