Are You a Prepper? UPDATE - CostCo is a Prepper! LOL

If it's chickens and firearms, it's not hoarding, it's collecting!

<sings>

... wouldn't you like to be a prepper too!

My, how times change. Back in the 60-70s this was just called going back to the land or even homesteading and we were not considered right-wing nut jobs. I was a liberal then. I'm a liberal now. I still garden, can, raise chickens, load my own, etc. I wasn't a "hippie" then and I'm not a "prepper" now. I'm still just plain ol' me.

I agree with wambat, just collecting we only have so many generators because my DH keeps finding such good deals on them and one is the welder on his truck.

He said if we have one of our Ice Storms he can loan one out to each of our neighbors.

He does collect any kind of old rusty iron too. Way more than my chicken collection. Tho I was just thinking I need a bigger coop.

In the event of a nuclear attack or explosion, it is likely that radioactive iodine will be released into the atmosphere. Survivors would breath, eat and drink it at some point. The thyroid gland absorbs a lot of the radiation taken into the body. Non radioactive tablets of KI (Potassium Iodide) would block absorption in the thyroid to some degree.

Just a little FAQ about this subject:

Frankly, if you have more than a couple weeks worth of stuff prepped, you are seriously overdoing it.

I have enough prepped to tide me over in case of tornado, ice storm, or earthquake (yes, I know there are no earthquakes in MN, but old habits die hard), since that's all I need to prep for. My fantasy life isn't quite rich enough to be prepped for anything else.

Though I do have a sign made up saying 'no zombies allowed'. Can't be too careful.

We have 2.

Not crazy, lived thru the 89 quake in SF, my best bud lived in new orleans during Katrina (sensiably evacuated). Here if you don't have an "earthquake kit" you're a bit off, the ground will heave and you wil be hit sooner or later. My quake kits just have some interesting additions. When the boys were small it included a manual breast pump, incase the power was gone.
