My theory on it is, if I sell them, they are no longer mine and I have no control over what that person does with them. Yes, I love my chicks, but if I must sell them, that is up to the buyer what they choose to do with them.

My feelings are: I've enjoyed the last 21 days. I feel that I've given these little precious sweethearts the best to start their new lives. BUT the more chicks I have the less bonding time I can spend with each one and the more money I'm going to spend in the next few months. SOOOOOO I would rather sell them and hope that someone else can give them the personal attention that I cannot. I do question each reply to weed out the snake charmers. But like acid chipmunk said, they are no longer mine to care for which means once they leave my home, I cannot control their destiny.

My biggest problem is I don't like strangers on my property. I don't know what kind of disease they might have on their clothes or shoes. I don't know if they are going to come steal something after they check the place out. Lots of crazy people in the world. They think my place is a petting zoo and want to see everything. They spend hours wasting my time to buy a chick. I won't sell from my house anymore. Its not worth the risk.

yea, i have someone wanting to come buy all 18 chicks....my fiance says the same thing, we can not control their fate after they are bought and sold. Heck, this is why I'm doing this....to sell them. but, I guess I'm just not used to having to give them away yet :o(

I'm with tuna.I sold some pullets recently and the people were two hours late.no phone call.
guess they thought that thirty dallors bought a lot more than it did. Or, that I needed it that bad.
Being late is often a problem.as well as the talkers..........I don't mind 1/2 hr. or so.I like people but sometimes
they decide they want to enjoy the country and stay way to long. I try to meet people off the property at a little store near our house.
The second is a situation I set up myself.not on purpose.........
A women wanted pullets only.off the lights.I agreed and we came to a fair price.
She wants to pick up on Sunday and now I am not cetain they are pullets, At 4 weeks I was sure, they keep changing in appearence and look much different at 7 weeks.........
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
What a mess.I do not want to make a mistake for her...
I will call her and tell the truth and let her decide what she wants to do and
I will not set myself up like this again..........day olds or six months period.
Thanks for listening.

I was the same way today when the guy came to get some. I told him, i'll show you the hens and rooster they have come from, and you can decide what you think they are. they change so much in the first few weeks. lol and to tell a dominique and a barred rock appart at 5 days old is almost IMPOSSIBLE... so i appologized if i wasn't sure, lol.

Couldn't you contact a local 4-H group? I bet that would be a pretty safe way to re-home chicks.
