This made me LOL because it suddenly reminded me of my best friend when I was a little girl. She is left handed. I'm right handed. We would ALWAYS end up sitting next to each other and bumping elbows. Drove my mom crazy because we'd make a mess!

I always have to sit on the outside when we eat out so I don’t bump into anyone lol although I think I hold my knife with my right hand but fork left

That sounds about right, elbow fights can get messy :gig

We were at a holiday dinner one year and the person assigned seating. My daughter was in the middle and was bumped while she was pouring gravy; it ended up all over the person on her right. The family hasn’t forgotten she’s a leftie since!

I wish lol
Think about it this way. You don't really do things with your hands. You do them with your brain. So just think of what it is you want to do and then do it. You may be a little slow, a little awkward. But you can do it. Think of all the things you do with both hands. Tie your shoes, make a sandwich, drive a car, wash dishes, etc. It's not like your non-dominant hand is just hanging there like a limp rag. You already use it all the time.

That makes sense!! Good point!!!

Weird part is hubs was just in a non-denominational public school. I have no idea why they tried to "fix" it. And this was in the 70s in one of the largest cities in the US. Not that it should happen anywhere, but you wouldn't think it would happen where it did.
holdover from the 50's and 60's. They tried to make me "fit in" too but they only managed with scissors. Honestly that was really because lefty scissors sucked so badly. Cutting paper with dull butter knives wasn't really effective.
