My brothers played rough, but nothing even close to what me and my sister would do to each other

Yup, we fought like crazy and are tougher for it. But now we are all really good friends

holdover from the 50's and 60's. They tried to make me "fit in" too but they only managed with scissors. Honestly that was really because lefty scissors sucked so badly. Cutting paper with dull butter knives wasn't really effective.

My sister hated left handed scissors. But she always had to start in the back in her notebooks, otherwise the metal would dig into her arm

I used to write J's and checkmarks backwards all the time when I was little. I remember it drove @Bakbro nuts!

Super common, part of the learning process when reading and writing. Most people grow out of it. Part of why it can be difficult identifying dyslexia at a young age
